Where would I learn how to be a 4-H leader?

A Good Question!!! New leader orientation is offered approximately 4 times a year. The first step in becoming a 4-H leader is to fill out an application. We ask for references that are checked. Following a review of your references and application you may be selected and invited to attend a leader orientation. The new leader orientation will answer a lot of questions that you may have about 4-H and introduce you to some of the educational resources available to you for your club work.

For further information about starting a new club call the 4-H office at 340-3990.

How big should a club be?

This depends on the age of the members, where they meet and the leadership available. The average club in Ulster County usually has five to ten members and two or three leaders. All new clubs are encouraged to start small and increase in size when the club and club leaders feel comfortable.
