4-H at the 2011 Ulster
County Fair!
2011 4-H at The Ulster County Fair Schedule
The Ulster County Fair opens Tuesday, August 2!
Over the past year, 4-H club members throughout our county have been preparing
for this week, and more than 300 youth will happily endure the blazing summer
heat and dusty conditions commonly found at the fair just to have the
opportunity to demonstrate their mastery of certain skills. With projects that
range from ornamental horticulture to fashion design and cooking to community
service projects, 4-Hers are excited to show off their achievements to the
public. The variety of 4-H events at the county fair include club exhibits, art
and photography displays, bake sales, livestock and small animal judging, horse
competitions, and much, much more! Through preparing and showcasing their
talents, these events offer our youth the exceptional learning experiences
needed to build self-confidence and maturity. But most of all, 4-Hers enjoy
entertaining the community that has encouraged them along the way!
With more than 2000 exhibits, it may be hard to
see everything 4-H showcases at the Fair, but here are a few things not to miss:
- The best milk shakes on earth are served daily
by the members of the 4-H Teen Council at their 4-H Milk Shake Booth. For
great tasting hotdogs, fresh local fruit, refreshing ice tea or Italian ice
visit the 4-H Snack Bar open from 10 am to 9 pm daily. Staffed entirely by
4-H members, leaders and parents all proceeds benefit Ulster County 4-H.
